چکیده

Abstract The body temperature of animals can be measured by thermistors, thermocouples, or radiotelemetry devices that are implanted surgically under the skin, although suitability subcutaneous as an indicator core limited because abnormal readings, probably affected ambient and animal inactivity. This study compared use bio-loggers designed to monitor (Tsub), with their embedded in intravaginal sponges measure vaginal (Tvag). Three ewes were a bio-logger was configured record Tsub every 30 min for month. Ewes given sponge 12 days two later. Inside installed programmed Tvag 5 min. (Tamb) relative humidity monitored using mini data-loggers. Mean lower ( P < 0.001) during day (38.02 ± 0.02 °C) than at night (38.10 °C), maximum (38.57 20:00 h minimum (37.36 08:00 h; however, mean higher (38.71 0.01 (38.62 (39.02 20:55 (38.33 occurred 08:25 h. (38.08 0.0001) (38.65 0.10 daytime 0.001). Both temperatures had 24-h rhythm 0.0001), but differed midline estimating statistic (MESOR) (Tvag: 38.67 °C, Tsub: 38.09 amplitude 0.21° 0.01C; 0.25 acrophase 18:27 0.38 h, 20:48 0.44 h). coefficient correlation between temperatures, simultaneously d 0.644 0.01), Tamb physiological same time throughout experiment, 0.319 0.01) 0.287 Tvag. linear regression analysis 24 circadian indicated high determination (0.9255) (0.4292). In conclusion, integration logger into sponge, insertion, provided continuous accurate temperature. Furthermore, strong Tamb, demonstrated usefulness biometeorological studies sheep. As alternative employing these subcutaneously, they also utilized biomarker inserted sponges.

The promise of exergames as tools to measure physical health

Exergames are popular video games that combine physical activity with digital gaming. To measure effects of exergame play on physical outcomes and health behaviors, most studies use external measures including accelerometry, indirect calorimetry, heart rate monitors, and written surveys. These measures may reduce external validity by burdening participants during gameplay. Many exergames have t...

Suitability of temperature-sensitive transponders to measure body temperature during animal experiments required for regulatory tests.

Body temperature is a clinical parameter in vaccine quality control to detect systemic side-effects or to monitor progression of infectious diseases. Moreover, changes in body temperature are used as clinical parameters to define humane endpoints in animal experiments. However, measuring body temperature via the rectal route can be troublesome and distressing to the animal. Non-invasive measure...
